Recently, Honda released official images of the new Honda Prelude overseas. The new car will be equipped with the same 2.0L e:HEV hybrid system as the Civic, and its chassis is the same as that of the Civic Type R. The new Honda Prelude will be offered in only one configuration and is planned to launch first in the United States in autumn 2025.

In terms of exterior, the new car continues Honda's family design. The low-slung front end and wide body give it a sports car stance. The headlight group is Honda's signature design, a large honeycomb air intake is added at the bottom of the front bumper, and the protruding front lip shows a sense of performance.

The new car has the iconic coupe roofline, paired with hidden door handles and 19-inch blacked-out wheels. The rear styling has a strong sense of layering. The air blade design at the bottom of the rear bumper can optimize the rear aerodynamics, and below the through-type taillight is the model's handwritten English logo. The new car's length, width, and height are 4300/1791/1300mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2576mm, and its body dimensions are close to those of the Toyota GR 86.

In terms of interior, the new car's cabin has the classic "Honda style." The low instrument panel and slim A-pillars ensure the driver has good visibility. The front sport seats have heating functions, with the Prelude logo printed on the headrests. The blue-and-white two-tone seats are fresh and natural. The car adopts a 2+2 seating layout and comes standard with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch high-definition central control screen. The new car supports wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google services, and offers an 8-speaker Bose audio system, which includes wide-range speakers and a subwoofer.

In terms of power, the new car's hybrid system consists of a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine plus dual motors, with a combined system output of 200 horsepower. It is matched with the Honda S+Shift simulated gear-shifting system. The chassis features the Civic Type R's dual-axis front suspension and adaptive damping system, and the track has been widened. It offers four selectable driving modes: Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual.
Dada Commentary: Honda's sales in China are showing a downward trend. Outdated configurations and delayed new energy transformation have both had a certain impact on sales. Honda's performance cars are rarely introduced to the Chinese market, and domestic consumers highly recognize new energy models from independent brands. These models are superior to Honda's performance cars in performance, configuration, and cost-effectiveness, and Honda's high-performance cars find it difficult to meet domestic emission standards. The Honda Prelude was first born in 1978 and is a representative model of Honda's FF (front-engine, front-wheel drive) coupes. The new Honda Prelude is equipped with the same 2.0L e:HEV hybrid system as the Civic. This system has higher emission standards and is expected to be introduced for sale in China in the future.
