On July 6, the 2027 new Ford Explorer was officially launched, with five models introduced, positioned as a mid-to-large fuel SUV.

In terms of exterior, the new car's front grille has been enlarged and features a squarer shape, paired with a star-ring-style continuous light bar. Its length, width, and height are 5064 mm, 2004 mm, and 1790 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 3025 mm.

The Kunlun Peak Edition uses a blacked-out grille at the front and is accented with a three-peak Kunlun Mountain emblem on the C-pillar, wheels, and in the cabin. The body dimensions of the Kunlun Peak Edition differ slightly, with length, width, and height of 5061 mm, 2004 mm, and 1798 mm respectively, while the wheelbase remains 3025 mm.

The Kunlun Peak Edition is equipped with exclusive off-road gear: a Torsen Type B limited-slip rear differential, TMS terrain management system, factory all-terrain tires, and full steel underbody armor, and it has a maximum towing capacity of 2.1 tons. A new Ford off-road visual system has been added, which can display real-time professional off-road data on the screen, including body tilt angle, four-wheel-drive power distribution, front wheel steering angle, latitude and longitude, and tire pressure.

In terms of interior, the new car is equipped with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, and a 27-inch 4K central control screen. The infotainment system is the SYNC Max smart connected system, built with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and features the VA4.0 voice assistant, which is connected to a large language model and supports wake-free and continuous command recognition. The Red Gold Edition and Kunlun Peak Edition additionally add front seat massage, second-row seat ventilation, and a HUD head-up display.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped across the lineup with a 2.3T turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 213 kW, matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Xiao Tang's view: The 2027 new Ford Explorer is an annual facelift model that, while retaining the original chassis and power characteristics, upgrades interior comfort and infotainment practicality. The five configurations across the lineup, from the four-wheel-drive Trekker Edition to the Kunlun Peak Edition, cover different usage scenarios such as urban commuting, multi-person family travel, long-distance cruising, and unpaved road traversing. Among them, the Kunlun Peak Edition highlights a rugged off-road character, with relatively complete hardware for towing and light off-roading to meet the demands of more complex road conditions. Overall, in the fuel mid-to-large SUV market, this model forms its own differentiated characteristics through its longitudinal rear-wheel-drive platform and all-scenario adaptability.
